for the future of president obama's landmark health care legislation, two months to the day since the troubled launch of heal healthcare.gov, they put out a report this morning saying they're making dramatic progress and the team is meeting with private sector velocity and effectiveness. that's how the website apparently is working. it also says the site's capacity has been expanded to handle 50,000 users at once along with improved response times and decreased error rates. but the obama administration has downplayed expectations in the past week saying the man could actually outweigh capacity, and today's report indicates there is still more work to be done. the real test lies ahead when millions of uninsured americans could try to enroll by an initial december 23rd deadline. we have mike rogers of michigan. he also sits on the on us and commerce committee over the jurisdiction of health and human services. welcome to both of you and welcome to "meet the press "snoochlt. >> just your reaction to this report. dramatic progress, private sector-like velocity. the promise was for the website to b

, as in the problems with the health care plan have become president obama's katrina. >> but today, the website is now fixed enough that it looks like obama care is really here to stay. the repeal strategy is dead and obama care is out of the icu. according to the administration, the error message rate for the front end of the website is less than 1%. that's down from about 6% last month. the site can now handle 50,000 users at a time, 800,000 per day. keep in mind, at one point, the site could handle only about 1,000 users at a time. >> this website is and will function effectively for the vast majority of users. >> not only is the website functioning better, enrollment is up, too. over 100,000 people have successfully selected plans in the federal exchange in november alone, up from the nearly 27,000 who did so in october. during the first few weeks of november, california's same exchange enrolled more people in private plans than they did for the entire month of october. and in new york, over 33,000 people enrolled through the state's exchange in november, double the just over 16,000 people enrolle
now and christmas eve, the white house says president obama is going to be doing some public thing every day to highlight good things about health reform, and to get people to sign up for insurance. december 23rd is the next big enrollment deadline for obama care, so the white house is taking on a new effort to fight back against the law's extremely loud critics. you can find of feel the change in tone from the white house on this subject already. they don't sound like they're playing defense on the subject anymore. the president gave a short kickoff speak about it this afternoon in washington, d.c., and i think it was telling this was the biggest applause line in the speech. >> i have always said i would work with anybody to implement and improve this law effectively. you have good ideas, bring them to me. let's go. but we're not repealing it as long as i'm president. i want everybody to be sure of that. >> on thursday this week, the venue will be different, the crowd bill probably be a little younger, and the president will be forced off script undoubtedly because president obama

southeastern united states, the only state that did put up its own state-run website for people to buy health insurance was kentucky, where the democratic governor of kentucky wholeheartedly embraced the whole idea of obama care, right, and who famously, the citizens of kentucky have reaped the benefit. kentucky now leads the nation in new sign-ups for health insurance, and that would be huge anywhere. it is a particularly huge deal for a state whose population is as unhealthful as kentucky's is. i don't mean any offense by it, but kentucky's population ranks at the bottom or toward the bottom of the nation's health ratings in lots and lots and lots of different categories, and kentucky has a lot of uninsured people. and it's the exact same deal two states over in mississippi, but in these two states, in the same part of the country, with the same health problems in their populations and a lot of the same challenges, one of them, kentucky, is now best in the nation in terms of people getting health insurance, and one of them, mississippi, is now worst in the nation, and not because they would
